Living the Questions

April 18, 2017

My husband and I stayed up two hours later than usual last night. We were talking about everything and nothing: the things we’ve been struggling with, how to understand and reframe it and maybe make a better way through it all. It was a hard conversation. I’ve been struggling for a while; we both have. I’ve tried writing about it but seem to get nowhere. Writing about the mess while you’re in it is a challenge. Weekend by the Numbers

April 20, 2015

Last week was a long one. When the weekend rolled around with its promise of blue skies and warm afternoons, I was more than ready. Here are some of the highlights, by the numbers: 2 -- The number of daffodils my kids were allowed to pick and take to their rooms. living room with kids

When I was younger, I was paralyzed by perfectionism. If I couldn't do something right (and by right I mean absolutely perfect), I wouldn't do it. Being Bored and Brilliant

February 9, 2015

Last week's Bored and Brilliant podcasts from New Tech City really have me thinking. So much so that I spent most of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday offline with my phone out of reach. The only exceptions were a photo I snapped and posted on Instagram and communicating with my book club via Facebook.  The rest of the weekend was spent working, reading, watching movies with my kiddos, and exercising. The goal of the Bored and Brilliant series was to provide a week's worth of challenges to help …

reading: The Goldfinch. It may just be the only book I read this month, which feels so weird (and will make for a short what I read post). playing: The Lumineers station on Pandora almost all the time. watching: The last season of The West Wing with Adam, and wondering what we'll watch next. Thank goodness our current shows are coming off hiatus soon. trying: The Garmin Vivofit. My neighbor decided he didn't like his, so he gave it to me (yes, gave it to me). So I've been tracking my …
