Late last year (really late, like, New Year's Eve), my friend Beth approached me about collaborating on a photography-related project. We were both feeling sad about habit coming to an end, and we decided we would create our own collaborative space in the new year. After some brainstorming (and countless emails), we came up with our new project, hello there, friend, a daily exchange of letters between friends. Today is our launch date, and we are so excited to share our posts every day, …
365 | January
Today ends month one of my 365 project, and so far this is still fun. Only once was I scrambling at 10:30 p.m. to get a photo (last night). Every other day, I've written 365 on the top of the day's to-do list and crossed it off before dinner time. I'm learning it helps to have a plan, to look for a story each day, whatever that might be. This is the story of January 2015. When I look at these photos, all I feel is gratitude. I'm thankful for this little life of mine, and that I get to capture …
People Remember How You Made Them Feel
Not that long ago, I was sitting with a friend having coffee. We were discussing some pretty heavy stuff, the kinds of things I would never blog about and only those closest to me know. At first, I didn't think I was going to make a book list for myself this year. It's been an annual tradition the last few years, but this year I want to release all the pressure of last year to read a certain number of books. And I think I have (January's total is going to be two -- that is so low!).* What I like about having a book list, though, isn't its ambition or magnitude; it's that it sets an intention, a guideline. Here's what I'd like to read, though I fully expect not to read half …
Currently
reading: The Goldfinch. It may just be the only book I read this month, which feels so weird (and will make for a short what I read post). playing: The Lumineers station on Pandora almost all the time. watching: The last season of The West Wing with Adam, and wondering what we'll watch next. Thank goodness our current shows are coming off hiatus soon. trying: The Garmin Vivofit. My neighbor decided he didn't like his, so he gave it to me (yes, gave it to me). So I've been tracking my …
