Weekend by the Numbers

April 20, 2015

weekend by the numbers

Last week was a long one. When the weekend rolled around with its promise of blue skies and warm afternoons, I was more than ready. Here are some of the highlights, by the numbers:

2 — The number of daffodils my kids were allowed to pick and take to their rooms. Both daffodils were trampled and left in the yard before ever making it into the house.

4 + 3 — The number of trash bags full of clothes + the number of boxes of books I purged from my house this weekend following The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up. I should have gone through my clothes a long time ago, so I was happy to see those go. The books, on the other hand, I was wary about. Being a reader and a writer and general books lover, I figured it would be hard to part with my books. But most of them have been carried from home to home (we’ve moved seven times in ten years) and do little more than collect dust on a shelf. I kept about thirty.

28 — The number of clothing items I have left, not including shoes or workout clothes. Apparently, I have a capsule wardrobe now.

weekend by the numbers14 — The number of different animals my kids and I saw at Lollypop Farm Saturday morning. My favorite: the curly-haired goat.

44 — The number of photographs I took with my DSLR this weekend. I took 15 with my iPhone, including this one.

51 — The number of minutes it took me to run 5.75 miles yesterday. I’m still slowly training for my half marathon, and this is the longest distance I’ve run so far. It was also (somehow, miraculously) my fastest run ever. I’ve shaved about a minute off my mile time from six months ago, and I tend to think I’m running so fast because I’m doing yoga twice a week. Yoga FTW!

3 — The number of gin and tonics I consumed sitting outside in the sunshine. I can see more of these in the near future.

182 — The number of pages of Don’t Tell the Wolves I’m Home that I devoured this weekend. This book is one of those I don’t want to end. I have about a hundred pages left, and I’m loving it so much.

Tell me, what did you do this weekend?
