Colorful Things

March 9, 2015

I loved playing along with ColorColorLovers, searching for color wherever I went. I only wish I had had more time to wander around outside, hunting color and taking photographs. With such a brutal winter, it just wasn't happening. I was indoors most of the time, so it I had to be creative with my color hunt. And so I decided each week I would round up little things from around the house in that week's color and snap a photo of them all together. It was a lot of fun. I loved walking around the …

What I Read | January-February Edition

March 5, 2015

This year, the reading has definitely slowed down. It's kind of frustrating, actually. I just have so many books I want to read. From the class description: Join photographer Lindsay Crandall as she shows you how she approaches creative self portraits and beautiful, ordinary moments. In this twenty …

Letting Go of Perfect

February 23, 2015

living room with kids

When I was younger, I was paralyzed by perfectionism. If I couldn't do something right (and by right I mean absolutely perfect), I wouldn't do it. I collected notebooks, beautiful ones, and would never write in them because if I wrote in them I'd probably end up crossing something out and they wouldn't be perfect anymore. I remember saying that to a friend in college, asking her if she ever felt bad about crossing stuff out and making a mess of something beautiful, and she answered incredulous, …
